PART-TIME DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
ABOUT SYLVAN HILLS CHRISTIAN SERVICE CAMP
Sylvan Hills Christian Service Camp exists to teach young people the Word of God, train them as
servant leaders, and enhance the spiritual growth of individuals and families. Our mission is to
cultivate a Christ-centered environment where faith flourishes. We provide a safe, welcoming
community where campers, families, volunteers, and guests can grow in their relationship with Christ
and serve others with a servant’s heart.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Development Coordinator is responsible for leading fundraising, marketing, and community
engagement efforts that support the mission and long-term sustainability of Sylvan Hills Christian
Service Camp. This individual will foster donor relationships, coordinate outreach events, and build
visibility for the camp across multiple communication platforms. The Development Coordinator will
ensure that the camp’s story and impact are consistently and effectively shared with the broader
community, churches, and supporters. The Development Coordinator collaborates closely with the
Camp Administrator, Facilities Manager, and leadership teams to align communication strategies,
enhance donor engagement, and promote events and initiatives that support the camp’s mission and
growth.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- A strong servant’s heart, dedicated to living out biblical principles in all aspects of life.
- A solid understanding of Scripture, with a desire for continued spiritual growth and a Christ-centered lifestyle.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities, especially in storytelling and promotional messaging.
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, donor engagement, or nonprofit development.
- Proficiency in digital tools such as social media platforms, Mailchimp, Canva, and WordPress.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with high attention to detail.
- Experience planning outreach events or representing a mission-based organization publicly.
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
- Must provide required clearances as mandated by PA law:
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Certification (Department of Human Services)
- Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Record Check (SP-164)
- DHS fingerprint-based FBI Criminal History Background Check (for individuals who have not resided in PA for the last ten years) ○ Mandated Reporter Training Certificate (Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse as required by PA Act 126)
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- FUNDRAISING & DONOR DEVELOPMENT
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors, sponsors, and partner churches.
- Plan and execute annual giving campaigns, capital fundraising initiatives, and targeted donor drives.
- Develop donor appreciation programs, including thank-you events, recognition campaigns, and consistent follow-up.
- Maintain and regularly update donor records, including giving history and contact preferences.
- Research and pursue grant opportunities aligned with the camp’s mission and financial needs.
- Lead the Development Committee in identifying fundraising goals and strategies.
- Represent Sylvan Hills Christian Service Camp at church visits, ministry fairs, and other events to raise awareness and financial support.
- Maintain regular communication with the Camp Administrator to ensure coordinated messaging, donor recognition efforts, and alignment of development strategies with overall camp operations.
- MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote summer camp programs, rental
opportunities, and fundraising campaigns. - Ensure consistent branding and Christ-centered messaging across all digital and print materials.
- Oversee the camp’s website content, ensuring clear navigation and a user-friendly experience.
- Create and manage social media content calendars and campaigns (e.g., Facebook, Instagram,
YouTube). - Design and distribute newsletters, brochures, and promotional materials (including merchandise) to churches and supporters.
- Gather photos, stories, and testimonies that highlight the impact of Sylvan Hills.
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote summer camp programs, rental
- COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
- Strengthen relationships with local churches, our member churches, schools, and organizations to broaden community involvement.
- Plan and host community outreach events such as open houses, volunteer recruitment, and
church presentations. - Develop sponsorship opportunities and partnerships with local businesses and civic groups.
- Attend networking events, conferences, or ministry fairs to promote the camp’s mission and
programs.
- ADMINISTRATIVE & REPORTING
- Communicate regularly with the Camp Administrator and/or Facilities Manager regarding ongoing development initiatives, event logistics, and coordination needs.
- Submit a monthly written Development Coordinator report to the Board to provide updates on
donor activity, campaign progress, and engagement efforts.
ROLE & MINISTRY IMPACT
The Development Coordinator plays a key role in implementing Sylvan Hills Christian Service Camp’s
vision and deepening its financial and relational support base. Through strategic communication,
fundraising, and community connection, this position ensures Sylvan Hills is well-equipped to fulfill its
Christ-centered mission now and into the future.
