PART-TIME FACILITIES MANAGER
ABOUT SYLVAN HILLS CHRISTIAN SERVICE CAMP
Sylvan Hills Christian Service Camp exists to teach young people the Word of God, train them as
servant leaders, and enhance the spiritual growth of individuals and families. Our mission is to
cultivate a Christ-centered environment where faith flourishes. We provide a safe, welcoming
community where campers, families, volunteers, and guests can grow in their relationship with Christ
and serve others with a servant’s heart.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, upkeep, and physical
operations of Sylvan Hills Christian Service Camp. This individual ensures that camp facilities,
grounds, and equipment are well-maintained, safe, and prepared for camp programs, rental groups,
and special events. The Facilities Manager works closely with the Camp Administrator, Development
Coordinator, Board Committees, and volunteers to support the camp’s ministry through effective
facility management and logistical coordination.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- A strong servant’s heart, dedicated to living out biblical principles in all aspects of life.
- A solid understanding of Scripture, with a desire for continued spiritual growth and a Christ-centered lifestyle.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to communicate well with committees and oversee multiple tasks and projects.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to operate and/or learn to use essential equipment, including:
- Riding mower
- Tractor
- Backhoe
- Trailer
- Familiarity with basic tools and equipment for repairs and maintenance.
- Must provide required clearances as mandated by PA law:
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Certification (Department of Human Services)
- Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Record Check (SP-164)
- DHS fingerprint-based FBI Criminal History Background Check (for individuals who have not resided in PA for the last ten years)
- Mandated Reporter Training Certificate (Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse as required by PA Act 126)
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- FACILITIES & PROPERTY MANAGEMENT
- Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all camp buildings, grounds, and equipment.
- Perform routine tasks such as mowing, trimming, snow removal, and general landscaping.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization in all areas of the camp.
- Coordinate with the Camp Administrator and Physical Operations Committee to schedule and
oversee inspections, repairs, and seasonal maintenance. - Schedule and manage routine maintenance by contractors (e.g., pest control, fire extinguishers, HVAC, kitchen inspections).
- Act as the primary point of contact for scheduled maintenance, emergency repairs, and contractor coordination.
- CAMP, RENTAL & SPECIAL EVENT SUPPORT
- Prepare and stock facilities for the camp season, special events, and rental groups.
- Serve as the on-site contact during camp weeks.
- Act as the primary on-site contact for rental groups, ensuring excellent guest experiences through on-site support.
- Schedule and coordinate with reset crews for camp weeks and rentals.
- VOLUNTEER & COMMITTEE ENGAGEMENT
- Schedule and organize camp workdays with volunteers.
- Actively participate in the Physical Operations Committee.
- Attend and contribute to Executive Committee and Deans meetings.
- Participate in bi-monthly Camp Board meetings.
- SUPPLY & LOGISTICS COORDINATION
- Order and coordinate delivery/pick-up of supplies for the operational needs of Sylvan Hills.
- Schedule ropes course evaluations and training.
- CERTIFICATIONS & TRAINING
- Obtain and maintain ServSafe and Ropes Course Facilitator certifications within one (1) year of
hire.

- ADMINISTRATIVE & REPORTING
- Communicate regularly with the Camp Administrator, Development Coordinator, and Physical
Operations Committee regarding camp operations, maintenance needs, rental logistics, and
facility projects. - Prepare and submit monthly written reports to the Board, including updates on maintenance
activities, repairs, volunteer workdays, contractor services, equipment status, supply coordination, safety inspections, certification progress, and other relevant facility matters.
